Set Spending Limits on Entertainment and College Food Expenses

Most college students get support from their family, or have scholarships, grants, part time jobs, or other aid to help cover expenses. However, creating and developing a budget while at will help you establish good spending habits while being able to save some money. You should set limits on how much you spend on college food and entertainment expenses. This way, you will always have enough money to eat at restaurants, rent a movie, or go out with friends on the weekend.

Never Cut Out College Food Meals When You Go Over Budget

Sticking to a budget can be difficult if you have never had to follow a budget before. You will mess up and overspend on different items. This is okay, as long as you recognize what you did wrong and try to avoid it in the future. If you find you are short in one area, and cannot get help making up the difference, you may need to cut back on some other expense. Most students’ initial reaction is to just skip eating college food meals. This is not a good choice because eating is important. Instead, look for entertainment expenses to cut, like staying in on the weekends, dropping down to a cheaper cell phone plan, or getting rid of cable TV.
